Research & Innovation

We attract students by offering internships opportunities to conduct research and innovation:

  • In the different business units of the Medine Group.
  • In collaboration with our industry partners.
  • On a topic of their own of common interest to Medine and Mauritius

Platform for students (local and foreign) to engage in research and innovation.

Partnership with MIT-Africa under MISTI program

As part of our R&D and Innovation thrust, we had the pleasure to welcome Diane Li, a mechanical engineering and materials science graduate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the MIT International Science & Technology Initiatives (MISTI)-Africa program. This program connects MIT students and faculty with leading researchers and companies across Africa.

Diane is spending four months working as an intern in the Agriculture department of Medine to start a mushroom cultivation and to demonstrate the potential of using mycelium waste to create new products in line with sustainable development.

During her time in Mauritius, Diane is looking forward to learning about the island’s culture, challenges, and ideas for the future. We are most grateful to Dr. Ari Jacobovits, MIT-Africa Program Director and Dr Andreas Mershin, lead of MycoHab, a shared research project between the MIT Label Free Research Group at the Centre for Bits and Atoms and Standard Bank that is currently growing mushrooms and creating sustainable building materials in Namibia.

Undergraduates and graduates are invited to apply  for internships under the research and innovation thrust.
